Dick Simmons
Vice President, Methanol

Dick Simmons is responsible for managing DeWitt's global Methanol Services with individual emphasis on methanol activities in the America's. Dick also has a coordinating role with the MTBE Services, Fuel Services and the annual Methanol and MTBE conferences.

Prior to joining DeWitt, Dick spent 10 years with Methanex Methanol in senior marketing positions. Dick also spend 25 years with Tenneco. His experience ranged from process engineering at Tenneco Chemical's methanol plant in Texas (now Enron plant) to VP of Tenneco's Global Methanol Business when the methanol and MTBE plants were sold to Enron.

Dick's early experience started as a coop student at Georgia Tech working for DuPont in New Jersey and in Maryland. After graduation, Dick spent time with Union Carbide in New York, United States Gypsum in Georgia and Shell Chemical in Texas before joining Tenneco Chemicals. Dick retired from Tenneco after 25 years of service.

Dick holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech.

 

Wolfgang Seuser
Vice President, Methanol & MTBE/Fuels,
Europe

Wolfgang Seuser is based close to Frankfurt in Germany and is responsible for the group’s Methanol and MTBE & Clean Fuels activities in Europe. This includes the responsibility for the content of the European part of the weekly Methanol and MTBE newsletters, as well as for the marketing of the group’s consultancy services and newsletters in this region.

Wolfgang comes to DeWitt with over thirty years of management experience in international sales and marketing in the monomer, polymer and chemical industry. He started his carrier at Bayer AG Leverkusen and was for more than fifteen years with Polysar International, Canada, where he was in the role of Global Business Development. He also managed the earlier production plant of Cabot in Germany. As Consultant, he worked with Morton International developing marketing strategies for new product market approach.

Before joining DeWitt, Wolfgang worked for Methanex in Europe as Senior Sales Manager. While with Methanex, he also gained broad experience in the clean fuels business and fuel cells technology. After leaving Methanex, Wolfgang was a consultant for companies located in Eastern Europe to support their joining process of becoming a member of the European Union.

Wolfgang is an educated Economist and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cologne.

Heng Lee Shir
Director, Methanol & MTBE/Fuels, Asia

Lee Shir is based in Singapore and is responsible for the group’s methanol and MTBE activities in Asia. This includes responsibility for the Asian content of the weekly methanol and MTBE newsletters, as well as for the marketing of the group’s consultancy services and newsletters in the region.

Prior to joining DeWitt in mid-November 2001, Lee Shir spent six years with the Reed Chemical Group, the last two years of which were spent covering Asian methanol and MTBE markets for ICIS-LOR, where her last position was as Acting Managing Editor for Asia and the Middle East.

Before working for the Reed Chemical Group, Lee Shir also worked for two years as a chemist for the packaging coatings division of Courtaulds Coatings (now part of PPG Industries via a purchase from Akzo Nobel).

Lee Shir holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
